The second annual Player's Choice 1 Maryland Fall individual recruiting showcase took place on Sunday, October 12th at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills.  Over 80 players participated in this event that is designed for players to get in front of Division II, III, NAIA and junior colleges in a different setting than the normal club team events. As the regional director for Player's Choice 1, I have been able to see first hand the effectiveness in helping players find a good college program fit. A very accomplished list of coaches showed up to guide the girls through the day. Savannah Webb (Pax River Silver Stars), Tony Bell of Mount Hebron, Willie Whitley of DC Metro Celtics, Brad Alexander of St. James, Detoiya Mcaliley of Milford Mill, Ovan Shortt of Coppin Academy and Baltimore Starz, Kris Sandberg of St. Mary's Ryken, Steve Day and Lindsay Cale of PA Premier, Ron Isaacs of Randallstown High and MD Grizzlies, Jered Lyons of Washington Adventist, Heather Dewees of Manchester Valley High and Central MD Attitude, John Stone of FBC Defenders and Tenay Gaddy and Mark Thomas of McDonough high school made up the staff. This was a guard heavy pool of talent and there were several who stood out to the evaluators on hand, including Wayne Brunck of Player's Choice 1 and Billy Taylor of 695hoops.com.

Elisia Diggs, 5'7" Combo guard, Battlefield High School (VA) 2015

Solid outside shooter. She is exceptionally athletic and has good body control which allows her to finish in traffic. She is a scoring guard that can handle the point as well. She will be a solid contributor at the right college. We will track her progress during the winter.

Ryan Jones, 5'4" Point guard, Atholton High School (MD) 2017

Good point guard, solid decisions and fundamentals. She showed the ability to lead the team. She quickly bonded with her teammates and was active on defense all day. Great energy player with a lot of potential.

Darneisha Brice, 5'4" Combo guard,Great Mills (MD) 2016

Athletic guard with great court vision. Set up her teammates with some nice passes and knocked down some deep threes. She's an active defender and a pass first point guard. She's strong for her size and will pressure the ball all the way up the court.

Nicole Robinson, 5'3" Point Guard, Northeast (MD-AA), 2015

Nicole is a knock down shooter and a tough scrappy defender. She did not take any plays off and her shooting created opportunities for her teammates.

Kayla Liles, 5'8", Combo guard, McDonogh, 2018

Kayla had a solid showing. She is a big guard with strong upper body strength that allows the game to come to her. She should get some solid minutes in her freshman year.

Nialla Curtis, 5'9", Small forward, Westlake, 2016

Gifted scorer with fast hands on defense. She is a physical player, boxes out well and knows how to use her body to get shots off in traffic.

Stephanie Guihon, 5'5", Point guard, Largo High School 2017

Stephanie is a strong scoring point guard. She has a versatile offensive game and is comfortable playing with the ball or off the ball. She made some explosive drives to the basket and finished strong.

Mckenzie Dewees, 5'8" Guard, Manchester Valley, 2018

Mackenzie is one of the top 2018 guards in the DMV area. She has a variety of dribble moves she uses to get open and create space. She can shoot, pass and she has a good basketball IQ. She is strong on ball defender and can play two guard as well.

Kirsten Searcy, 5'6" Guard, St.Maria Goretti, 2017

Kirsten made a name for herself at the showcase. She is a flashy player with nice ball handling skills and she is a good passer. Several scouts took note of her court savvy and ability to make plays. She's a good shooter and I'm looking forward to seeing her in the winter.



Alexis Bailey, 5'5", Guard, Tuscarora High School, 2015

Alexis is a versatile guard who is drawing interest from multiple D1 schools. She showed up at the showcase and showed why she has options. She has a mean slashing game and can finish through contact. She plays a physical brand of ball and has a nice variety of go to moves in the paint. Lets see how this plays out...

McDonogh's 2017 forward Morgan Jacobs has added some post moves and is knocking down threes now.

Tony Bell, head coach at Mt. Hebron, brought his energetic style to the sidelines for the showcase.

Coach Willie Whitley of DC Metro Celtics and Jered Lyons of Washington Adventist both helped out as coaches.

Mark Thomas and Tenay Gaddy of McDonough in Southern Maryland came up to McDonogh in Owings Mills to lend a hand and coach.

National Honor Society and high academic students were highlighted by being given a pair of gold shorts for the Showcase.
