695HOOPS WHERE IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
The 13th annual Mid Atlantic Girls National Basketball League All Star event took place on February 6th at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, Maryland. As usual the gym was filled with talented prospects from across the Mid Atlantic. League director Saladin Reese of Team Sol and National Christian Academy put together a line up of competitive match ups that kept the gym filled all day.
The first game of the day featured the Junior Ballers Division, and the 4th and 5th graders did not disappoint. The final score was 23-19 in a back and forth thriller with the away team rallying in the second half for the win.
4th grader Ceane Corbett of the Classics was MVP for the Home team in the first Junior Ballers game.
Tatum Greene, 4th grader, and Armani Walker (5th) took home MVP for the winning team in the Junior Ballers game. Both play for Baltimore Starz.
The second game featured the Junior Varsity division with 5th and 6th graders. In another close game the away team held on for a 32-29 win.
5th grader Abby Cooch of NOVA 94 was the MVP for the home team.
6th grader Sydney Goree of Havoc City took home Co-MVP in the Junior Varsity game.
5th grader Corey White of the Classics took home Co-MVP for the Junior Varsity game.
The 3rd game of the day featured the Varsity division with 6th and 7th graders. In a thrilling comeback the away team was able to rally with strong defense for a 35-33 win.
Team Sol's 6th grader Giani Boon had a big day and took home MVP for her team.
Gabrielle Johnson, 6th grader of Baltimore Starz took home co-MVP.

Game 4 of the day also featured 6th and 7th graders and was billed as the College division. The away team easily won 47-26 thanks to strong games by Sarah Hortin, a 7th grader with the Germantown Lady Panthers and Sherise Pittman of Cap City Ballerz.

The grand finale was the Pro division game featuring 7th and 8th graders. Some of the top talent from the area was on display in this game. This one went to overtime as the home team led for most of the game but let it slip away late. Synia Johnson and Aniya Gourdine were too much in the second half as they ignited a 13-0 run to tie the game. It was back and forth the rest of the game and ended with the away team on top 66-63.
Madyson Hinton, 8th grader MD Shooting Stars was MVP for the Pro division.
7th grader Aniya Gourdine of the Maryland Pride was co-MVP in the Pro game.
MBA 8th grader Synia Johnson took home co-MVP in the Pro game.
