Every year in mid to late April, depending on when the NCAA live recruiting period falls, hundreds of teams flock to Raleigh, North Carolina for the ASGR Deep South Classic. 396 teams showed up this time out with another 88 in town for the Insider Exposure Raleigh Invitational which was basically the overflow event. College scouts routinely fill the Raleigh Convention Center to check out the talent while networking and socializing with each other. This year was no different.

There are some undisputable facts about this exposure event. One, if you are a college coach you can find some talent here. Two, if you are a talented player and you consistently bring it on game day you can get yours. Three, if you area a parent or guardian you will shell out some cash and most likely will not see any return on your investment. The event now starts on Thursday so kids miss two days of school now. Admission is $20 per day for everyone 12 and older. This year most teams played one game a day over four days. There are plenty of college coaches there so it's worth it right? Maybe. Admission for D1 coaches is almost $700 but that's not a problem because they have huge budgets for this type of stuff right? Right. The problem is that most of the almost 4,000 players participating are not D1 level players. My guess is that a large percentage of them can play at the D2 level. My concern is that admission for D2 colleges is almost $500 which is a bit steep for most of them. One D2 coach told me she would never pay that because she is much more careful with other people's money than her own. Quite a few D2 coaches did pay it so maybe it will work out. Either way we will all be back again next year. 

 Here are some prospects that won't have any problems getting to the next level...

 Jada Boyd, Team Loaded, 2019 6-2 forward

Jada was very impressive on both ends of the floor. She blocked shots empatically out of bounds and kept some in play ala Bill Russell. She ran the floor like a guard and finished nicely at the rim with authority through contact.

Lyrissa Deans, PSPA Rams, 2017 6'3" forward

Lyrissa looked confident and showed off a nice release and good range on her shot, all the way out to the 3 point line. She battled inside on both ends and looks ready for the next level.

Paris McBride, Team Loaded, 2019 5'4" point guard.

I remember Paris from her time with Cap City Ballerz. She is a fierce competitor and she attacks the basket constantly. She made some nice drives and either finished or dropped an assist off, showing good decision making. Do not let the height fool you, she can play.

 Alisha Owens, Team Slink, 6'0"  2017 forward

Alisha showed off some nice moves in the paint and finished with a nice touch. She is a good scorer but also found open teammates for easy buckets. Will check for her again at Summer Slam in July.

 Excellanxt Greer, PSPA Rams, 5'5" 2019 point guard

Pass first floor general that can score as well. Excellanxt looked poised and comfortable with her new team. Defenders struggled to keep her in front of them and she made some precise passes in traffic.

Eniyah Russell, Power Move Baltimore, 2020 5''9" guard

Eniyah is a combo guard but played mostly at the point this time out. She has started to use her length on defense so she is becoming a two way player. She has an excellent handle and can score from outside the arc or drive the lane. She is a talented playmaker and Big East and ACC schools have taken notice.

Dasia Townes, Power Move Baltimore, 2020, 5'10" guard

Dasia, also known as Stix, was a big reason her team took home the 13U championship. She was one of the best on ball defenders in the tournament because her lateral movement and size allow to wreck havoc in open space. She was very efficient on offense and looks comfortable at both guard spots.
