Aneah Young
695: How old were you when you started playing?
Aneah: I started playing basketball when i was about 5 or 6.
695: How did you get started?
Aneah: My mother made me and my sister play every sport to see what we liked. I danced, played soccer,softball and I did gymnastics, but basketball was the most fun.
695: Where did you grow up?
Aneah: I grew up on Pelham Avenue on the east side off of Belair road. It was a block from Erdman Avenue.
695: Which AAU teams have you played for?
Aneah: Baltimore Lady Lions , Maryland Shooting Stars and the Philadelphia Belles.
695: Who is your favorite player?
Aneah: I LOVE Carmelo Anthony.
695: Talk about last year's run to Towson for the playoffs...
Aneah: Last season was crazy,thrilling and a lot of fun. The road to the semi - finals was a lot of hard work,no game was easy. I mean we played City three times last year. It is really hard to beat a team three times. We were competitive and hungry. We came up short, but we worked hard to get there. I love my girls and I'm proud of my team.We will be back.
695: Talk about the recruiting process and how you chose James Madison...
Aneah: The process was exciting and fun to have all these coaches interested in me. But after awhile of getting phone calls and emails all the time, the process became overwhelming . I chose JMU because I could see how much they wanted me. They always stayed in contact and came to everyone of my games. I was their first choice. Also there is a great possibility for me to start as a freshman, which is huge. I really like the coach and I love the relationship the team has with their coaches. I just felt like it was the perfect fit.
695: Tell me about a funny basketball road trip...
Aneah: A funny road trip was when we went to DC. My team had a big sleepover and we facetimed our coach.
695: What do you want to add to your game for the next level?
Aneah: I want to become an all around player. I want to improve my ball handling and make my shooting more consistent.
695: What are your goals for your senior season at Poly?
Aneah: My goal is for my team to win the State Championship. I also just want to prepare my self for the next level.
695: What do you listen to before a game?
Aneah: I listen to little bit of everything. I just put my ipod on shuffle but most of the artists are J.Cole, Beyonce, Usher, and Whitney Houston.

Like the rest of the Baltimore area I have had the chance to watch Aneah Young grow from a raw, athletic 7th grader into a full fledged D1 player. The quiet and reserved 5'11" guard/forward has the size and skill set to make an immediate impact at James Madison, where she has committed to play.
