695: Congrats and the commitment to VCU. What made you choose them?
Camille: A lot of reasons. I'm going to major in Sports Medicine and they have a lot of hospitals in the area and the Sports Medicine center is across from the gym. Also, I love the coaches and I love how they run their offense. I think it will play to my strengths. Plus, it is near home but not too close so I get the full experience of being away from college but my family and friends can always drive the two hours to see me play.
695: How old were you when you started playing ball?
Camille: I was about 7 or 8.
695: Where did you grow up?
Camille: Bowie, Maryland.
695: Talk about winning the IAAM championship last winter....
Camille: (starts laughing) Well I can't tell you too much I was on the bench because of foul trouble for the majority of the game. But it was really exciting. Everybody on the team wanted it, especially the seniors and it was a great way to end the season. We played hard and came out with a win.
695: How did you celebrate?
Camille: We had a party at Brya's(Freeland) house right after the game, a bunch of us stayed over and we watched scary movies all night and ran around the house.
695: What do you want to add to your game?
Camille: I really want to get a real nice jump shot, just so I can be able to shoot 3's like its nothing.
695: Which AAU teams have you played for?
Camille: I've been playing with Alana Beard's Future since I was 12 but before that I played with Bowie Express, and the Main Event Cobra's.
695: Tell me about a funny road trip story...
Camille: (starts laughing) Alana Beard's Future hosted a tournament a few years back in Orlando Florida, and we all stayed in these big houses with pools in the back. So one day everybody was getting ready for the game and I was already in uniform, dressed and everything so I sat near the pool and waited for everyone to hurry up. I put my phone in the side pocket of my bag but I forgot to zip it up, and when I leaned over the pool to feel the water, all I heard was *plop.* I looked and I saw my phone in the water, so with my uniform and everything I jumped in the pool to grab my phone.A few of my teammates ran to the pool like "Camille, what are you doing?" I was like I had to get my phone! I was soaked, but I still had to play so I had to play in a wet uniform.
695: Who is the funniest teammate you have ever had?
Camille: Raven Makins, she is hilarious. She always finds a way to make the whole team laugh. She does these weird faces and voices. She is too funny.
695. How is the recruiting process going for you so far?
Camille: Well, the recruiting process has been great, it has definitely been a great learning experience for me.
695: I heard you can throw down in the kitchen. Where did you get those skills? What is your specialty?
Camille: I wouldn't say all that now, but my mom taught me everything I know, she's an excellent cook, and when she finds the time, she teaches me. My specialty is probably my curry chicken.
695: What position are you most comfortable playing?
Camille: Power forward, just because when I was younger, I was always the tall one on the team so thats what I learned first, but now height isn't really that much of an advantage for me, so I'm slowly working my way out of the post and trying to be more of a wing player.
695: What do you plan to major in?
Camille: I plan to major in sports medicine and/or sports management.
695: What's the last good concert you went to? Did you catch the Justin Bieber show?
Camille: I don't really go to concerts, and nahhh, I'm not a Beiber fan (laughing).
695: Tell me something people might not know about you...
Camille: I've been playing the bass violin since I was in 7th grade. And before that I played the violin.
695: Thanks and good luck this season.
Camille: Thanks.
