695HOOPS WHERE IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
Before Lindsay Allen packed up and hit the bricks to Indiana to start her college career at Notre Dame she answered some questions for 695hoops.com. The 2013 St.John's guard was one of the top players in the country during her high school career.
695: How did you get started playing ball and how old were you?
Lindsay: My parents got me involved in sports at a young age with my older brother and older sister. Also, I wanted to do everything my brother did when I was younger, so when I saw him playing basketball I decided to give it a try. I started playing when I was about five years old.
695: Have you played any other sports?
Lindsay: Yes, I've played soccer and softball when I was younger and in middle school. I've also taken a few tennis and swimming lessons and been to tennis camp.
695: Where did you grow up?
Lindsay: I grew up in Mitchellville, MD in Prince George's County, where I still live today. I have lived here for almost eighteen years.
695: What other hobbies do you have?
Lindsay: I enjoy hanging out with my friends, listening to music, and reading.
695: Which AAU teams have you played for?
Lindsay: I have played for Team Excel, Fairfax Stars, Team Unique, and the Philadelphia Belles.
695: Tell me about a funny basketball road trip...
Lindsay: My high school team, St. John's, and I were on our way to St. Mary's Ryken last year, which is about an hour and a half to two hours away. Everything was normal about the trip, we got out of school early and took a charter bus there with our JV team. As we left St. John's, our bus shut down for a few seconds so we thought nothing of it. Then as we were making a right turn onto New York Avenue, a busy street in DC, our bus shut down completely. Our bus had to make a wide turn to clear the full bus, so we were blocking the lanes of traffic for about a minute or so. Once the driver got the bus started again, we had to pull to the side of the road and wait for another charter bus to come get us. The new bus we got was a much older version of the previous one, it was smaller, and it was hot and musty even though it was the middle of winter at the time. It was a very interesting experience, to say the least.
695: Which position are you most comfortable playing?
Lindsay: I am most comfortable playing the point guard position.
695: What type of music do you have on your iPod?
Lindsay: I have some Drake, J. Cole, Kanye West, Mac Miller, The Weeknd, and Wale, just to name a couple. I also have a couple of Michael Jackson songs and some 90's hip hop.
695: Who is your favorite player?
Lindsay: My favorite player is Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics. I also enjoy watching Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Sue Bird, and Seimone Augustus.
695: Talk about your recruiting process and how you decided on Notre Dame...
Lindsay: I enjoyed the recruiting process and learning about all of the schools that were recruiting me, even though it was a little hectic at times. I was a little nervous about the first call from a college coach, I didn't know what to expect. I got more and more comfortable as I started talking to more coaches. It was a difficult decision, but I decided that Notre Dame was the best choice for me. The combination of a high academic standard, being able to compete with and against the best in the country, tradition, and a community that had a family atmosphere was something I had always hoped for. I built a relationship with the coaches and players unlike any of the other universities I had visited. My final choices were Notre Dame, Stanford, the University of Virginia, Syracuse, and Boston College.
695: Good luck at Notre Dame.
Lindsay: Thank you.
