Spalding's Maggie Morrison is headed to Vanderbilt next year, but before she heads to Nashville to get a taste of the SEC she has some unfinished business in the IAAM. We talked about her goals for the season and how Vanderbilt came out on top of her long list of suitors.
695: How old were you when you started playing ball?
Maggie: I was around 3 playing with my older sister.
695: What teams have you played for?
Maggie: Green Hornets, MD Waves, MD Sure Shots, MD Lady Terps.
695: Who is your favorite player?
Maggie: Tony Parker.
695: What made you choose Vanderbilt over all those other schools?
Maggie: It was a perfect fit from the team, to coaches, to style to play, to academics. When you know its right you just get that feeling.
695: What are your goals for this high school season?
Maggie: Definitely a championship, but most important to leave with no regrets and know I did everything to help the team.
695: How did those games against St.Frances last year prepare you for this season?
Maggie: They are somthing we think about going into every practice and game as motivation to work hard to not only get the opportunity to play in the championship again but to win it too.
695: Tell me about a crazy AAU road trip story...
Maggie: Coach Rob (Hildreth) and I sat in a gym for about 6 hours and ate hot dogs at every halftime of every game. I gained a lot of weight that summer.
695: What other sports do you play?
Maggie: I play soccer too.
695: What do you do besides sports for fun?
Maggie: I love hanging out with my family and going to watch games.
695: Who is the funniest teammate at Spalding?
Maggie: Raven Makin.
695: What do you listen to on your Ipod?
Maggie: Anything and everything. I like all kinds of music.
695: You've won AAU championships since like 3 and under. How do you usually celebrate?
Maggie: I go watch more games.
695: What's your favorite subject in school?
Maggie: Forensic Science.
