695: Tell me about your family life...
Raven: I was born in Silver Spring, Md and I grew up in Laurel, Md Prince George's County. I have a blended family. I'm the youngest; living with my mom, dad, brother, and older sister.
695: Which position are you most comfortable playing?
Raven: I'm a combo player. I'm most comfortable playing the two and three position (guard/small forward).
695: How old were you when you started playing and which AAU teams have you played for?
Raven: I started playing AAU when I was 8. I played with the Classics, Team Sol, MD Lady Shooting Stars and I finished my last year of AAU with Blue Star Maryland.
695: What was the highlight of the summer for you?
Raven: The highlight of my summer was going to Point Guard College (PGC) in Pennsylvania. I learned a lot and met great athletes from all over the U.S. as well as other countries. Also I really loved playing in the BmoreHoops 7th Anniversary All-star Game at the Dome. It was a big family atmosphere and I got to play against great talent from the area.
695: How was the recruiting process for you and how did you decide on Central Connecticut?
Raven: The recruiting process can be very stressful. At first, I wasn’t sure about anything. Like: What school will provide the best Communication program? What area I wanted to be in; rural, suburbs, or city? What size school I wanted to go to; big or small? I had to think about if I go to this school or that school, will I be able to make an immediate impact. The best advice I could give is to keep all options open. Remember your goal is to get an education first and a degree. So, find the best fit that will satisfy your academic, athletic, and social needs. I chose Central Connecticut because they have a great communication program. I also I love that it is located in a suburban area but is right near a big city. I felt comfortable on the campus and got a good vibe from the coaches and players.
695: What are your goals for the high school season?
Raven: My main goal is to have a successful season like we did last year in hopes of winning another I.A.A.M. Championship! Also I would like to get another invite to the ESPN Rise Tournament.
695: What do you plan to major in at Central Connecticut?
Raven: I plan to major in broadcast journalism and minor in business.
695: What do you do besides play ball for fun?
Raven: When I’m not playing ball or working out I’m hanging out with my friends. From time to time I do boxing for fun and it helps keep me in shape. Also I love to sing in the shower, in the mirror or where ever I can. I like acting and doing impressions of people. I like performing monologues and cracking jokes. I can always make my family and friends laugh.
695: If you could hang out with one person for a day who would it be and why?
Raven: Tyler Perry so he could give me a contract to be in one of his movies because I do a great Madea impression!
695: Can you dance or do you hold up the wall at the party?
Raven: I’ve never been the type of person to stand on the walls at parties or sit in a corner. I like being the life of the party. I’m usually the first one dancing to break the ice.
695: What do you have on your Ipod?
Raven: Mostly I have go-go music (Reaction Band and ABM) on my iPod. As for rappers Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, Fat Trel, Rick Ross and Big Sean.
695: Thanks and good luck with everyone.
Raven: Thanks for taking time to talk to me.
