695HOOPS WHERE IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
Edgewood's Shania Stamper is a tough, physical point guard that likes to deliver assists to her teammates, and contact to opposing guards. She is a lock for another appearance on the All Harford County team and has already put up games of 30 and 35 points in her senior season. She should crack 1,000 career points this seson and will announce her college choice very soon.
695: How old were you when you started playing and how did you get started?
Shania: When I was in 4th grade my gym teacher (Mrs.Jones) always would tell my mother me and my sisters should play basketball. So my sister started playing AAA then my mom signed me up for rec ball. I was 11 when I started.
695: Which AAU teams have you played for?
Shania: I have only played AAU for the Baltimore Starz. I played rec ball in Aberdeen and LTRC.
695: Who is the funniest teammate you have had so far?
Shania: The funniest teammate I have had is Kahla Hedgepeth. She will have you laughing over anything.
695: Tell me about a funny basketball road trip...
Shania: A few years ago with the Baltimore Starz we went to Ohio and we had a fun ride there and back singing songs and playing games. When we got to the hotel we met another team and would play games in the hotel and would go to the pool. It was nice hanging out with another team.
695: Who is your favorite player?
Shania: My favorite players are Kobe Bryant and Kayla McBride.
695: What do you love about playing this game?
Shania: What I love about basketball is that it has made me a better person on and off the court and I have gained more confidence in myself. Also there's something you always can learn and improve.
695: What artists do you listen to on game day?
Shania: I listen to Beyonce, Meek Mill, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, and Kirk Franklin.
695: What do you want to add to your game?
Shania: I want to become more of a vocal leader. I want to become more consistent and like any good point guard I want to continue to make good decisions with the ball.
695: What was the last good book your read?
Shania: "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
695: What are your goals for your senior high school season?
Shania: My goals for my senior season are to hit 1000 points, win a championship ,and to improve my overall game, especially my outside shooting.
