695HOOPS WHERE IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
This six foot sophomore is looking to have a breakout season this winter after missing most of the summer. She moved to the Philly Belles national team but that was a frustrating experience due to a broken bone in her foot. We had a chance to chat with Jen about that and other things.
695:How long have you been playing organized basketball?
Jen: Organized since first grade. I started AAU when I was in 5th grade.
695:Which AAU teams have you played for?
Jen: York Unity, Mid Penn Motion, Baltimore Starz, and the Philadelphia Belles.
695: How was it being selected to the Adidas Phenom Camp in California?
Jen: Wow that was a really big deal to me. I was really excited that i was selected and couldn't wait to play out there. It was alot of fun.
695:You were one of the best players on your team as a freshman last year. Do you think you will be more of a leader this year?
Jen: Hopefully. I just want the team to succeed and the individual stuff comes with team success. I'll help my teammates as much as possible and hopefully it will be reciprocated.
695: What goals do you have for the upcoming season?
Jen: State champions. And being an offensive and defensive threat at all times.
695: What did you work on this summer to add to your game?
Jen: Well I was hurt most of the summer but i've been working on strength, my vertical, shot, speed, and agility a lot with a trainer in Camphill. I try to do a lot of ball-handling too.
695: What position are you most comfortable playing?
Jen: 3-4, I like being a guard a lot but also having the ability to go inside and slash.
695: Is the recruiting by colleges start to get serious yet?
Jen: I would say yes. I look at it as only having two more years to be seen. I've gotten some letters but hopefully they'll start pouring in when the time comes.
695: What are you listening to on your Ipod these days?
Jen: My ipod has been lacking lately but I love r&b and rap.
Jen: Who is the funniest teammate you've had so far?
Jen: I'd have to say Shae Grim from my high school team.
695: Who is your favorite NBA or WNBA player?
Jen: Dwight Howard hands down.
695: Do you have any hobbies besides Hooping?
Jen: Basketball is pretty much what my life consists of, but other than that I like the normal teenage stuff. Chillin' with friends, going to high school games and stuff like that.
695:Do you have any pre-game rituals or meals?
Jen: Honestly I listen to r&b right before games.
695: Can you cook anything?
Jen: I make some bangin' rice pilaf and a mean chocolate milk. That's about it.
695: Ok, I'm going to need you to expand on that a bit this year. Add a couple of things to the menu.
Jen: Like some chicken parm or somethin?
695: That might work!
So if I come to one game this year which one should it be?
Jen: I'll see what i can whip up.
I'm gonna have to go with Red Lion. (shout out to Gisselle Truiett) We haven't beaten them in 6 or 7 years.
695: I'll mark the date down. Good luck with the season and thanks for chatting with me tonight.
Jen: Anytime. Thank you.
