695HOOPS WHERE IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
Kennard-Dale's Sara Tarbert has committed to play at University of Maryland-Baltimore County. The 2013 graduate will take her versatile game to the next level after showcasing her talents with the Maryland Grizzlies the past couple of summers. We caught up to Sara for a quick chat after she made her decision.
695: What made you decide to attend UMBC?
Sara: I chose UMBC because it felt like a home away from home. For me, it's far enough away, but close enough to home. I absolutely love the entire coaching staff and the team's style of play. The atmosphere of the college is very welcoming and their focus on academics is first priority. I'm excited for these next 4 years and couldn't picture myself anywhere else.
695: How old were you when you started playing?
Sara: I was in third grade when I started playing which was around 8 years old.
695: Have you played any other sports?
Sara: Other than basketball, I play volleyball. I tried Track & Field but it wasn't for me.
695: Where did you grow up?
Sara: I grew up in Delta, PA which is pretty much in the middle of no where, but I couldn't imagine growing up anywhere else.
695: Which AAU teams have you played with?
Sara: I've played for York Unity, White Rose Stars, Maryland Elite, and Maryland Grizzlies.
695: Talk about last year's season at Kennard Dale...
Sara: Last year was a growing year at Kennard-Dale. We lost nine seniors and I was the only returning starter or full varsity player for that matter. However, the team played really well together and came out with a winning season.
695: What do you need to add to your game?
Sara: I would love to add some more outside game to my play. I am in the post most of the time but I really want to be more diverse and have the confidence to step out and shoot the occasional 3.
695: Who is your favorite player?
Sara: All time Michael Jordan. In the league today, I have to say I'm a pretty big Rondo fan. I like Lebron James though too. I think they're all amazing players.
695: What do you plan to major in in college?
Sara: I really want to do something in the medical field. Probably major in Nursing since I want to be a Nurse Anesthetist.
695: What other hobbies do you have?
Sara: Well, I wish I could give you a scholar-like answer for this like reading, but I would have to say shopping is a fun hobby of mine.
695: Tell me something people might not know about you...
Sara: Some people probably don't know that I'm very involved in my school. I'm Vice-President of my class, in orchestra, Vice-President of Varsity Club, etc. You name it, I'm most likely in it.
