2017 Recap

Saturday, March 18, 2017

The Senior Shoot Out returned to Baltimore City Community College and it looks like that will be the permanent home of the event until further notice. The 6th annual Senior Shoot Out was highlighted by the Beltway Clash which features DC's top female ballers against Baltimore's best. Coach Henry Anglin of National Christian Academy and his 495 All Stars were able to hold off a tough Baltimore squad and take the Beltway Cup back down 95 South with them with an 87-77 win.  Mykea Gray of National Christian led the DC team with 22 points. Lindsey Pulliam of Good Counsel added 16 and Octavia Wilson of Eleanor Roosevelt added 13. Chyna Latimer scored 27 for the 695 All Stars and Mia Davis of St. Frances added 23.

The Girls Middle School All Star Game has become quite a draw as part of the Senior Shoot Out. 26 talented players from Richmond, VA to the Baltimore area put on quite a show for the packed crowd at BCCC.  It was an action packed, back and forth contest with the Black team coached by Kelli Colfied coming out on top 63-50. Vashae Rideout scored 20 points for the winners while Madison Nimmo scored 12 for the Grey team.

The Mid Atlantic Challenge featured some talented players who are still unsigned and some that have already signed to D1 schools like Tennesseee State, Longwood and others. This game was a barn burner that went down to the last shot. Riverdale Baptist guard Tyana Scott made a 12 footer with 4 seconds left to put the Blue squad up 50-48. A Ryan Jones(Atholton) heave from half court hit the rim as time ran out. Briana White of Elizabeth Seton scored 12 points for the winners and Jewel Porter scored 12 for the Green team.

UNSIGNED SENIORS IN THE DMV SHOWCASE

The DMV Showcase is an annual showcase game for unsigned seniors we present every year. We have had a great turnout of colleges the last 3 years. This year was no different. There are plenty of talented unsigned players in the 2017 class and several of them picked up offers or have visits set up where they might ultimately received offers. The game was hotly contested with Briel Palmer of Parkdale leading all scorers with 15 for the Black team. Mia Boyd of Kenwood played a tough all around game and finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds to lead the White squad to a 61-55 win. Deierra Weems of Poly added 8 points for the winners. Kennedy Fairfax scored 14 for the Black team, including four 3 pointers. Check out part 1 of the unsigned seniors report to the right.

Beltway Clash: 495 All Stars and 695 All Stars

Aryanna Hutcherson, Chopticon

Tough 5'4" guard that brings the heat on defense and can shoot the ball. Nice combo skills and did I mention she really locks up on defense? NCAA qualifier that will be a steal late for a good program.

Kennedy Fairfax,Bishop Ireton

5'2" Assassin. She was the best shooter in the event. She drained four 3 pointers and showed toughness by getting into the lane. Forget her size, she can play. High academic student athlete that wil contribute right away.

Briana White, Elizabeth Seton

At 5'9" she has good size and she really brings energy. She attacked the basket relentlessly and finished well.I love how she set the tone for her team. She is visiting some CIAA schools and has CACC offers. Another late steal for the right program.

Deierra Weems, Poly

5'8" wing with some toughness. She showed off her 3 point range and attacked inside by crashing the offensive glass. Has a CIAA visit lined up.

QUALITY SENIORS STILL AVAILABLE...

Morgan Jacobs, McDonogh

Tough 5'9" wing with a good 3 point shot.

Flashy 5'7'' point guard that can also play off the ball.

Mykiara Carroll, St. Frances

Very competitive floor general that played at a high level during her team's undefeated season

Alexis Moore, St.John's Catholic Prep

5'9' versatile and tough guard/forward on a successful team.

Monet Wade,Frederick

Big,strong, versatile wing. She's about 5'10" so she can defend and score. Glue player fresh off the 3A championship with Frederick. Way under the radar.

Nyamal Pinyien of Parkdale and Krishauna Davenport of Northwestern. Two post players still available.

6'2" Daytia Foote of Anacostia

Very athletic and explosive front court player.
