695HOOPS WHERE IT'S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE GIRLS
We caught up with sophomore Christina Mitchell at the Breezy Bishop Showcase and she answered a few questions for us. The 6'3" forward discussed why she took her talents from Western to charter school M.A.T.H.S. and a few other things. With shot blocking and deep three point range already in her arsenal, she is looking to add more to her game.
695: How old were you when you started playing ball?
Chris: I was about 9 years old.
695: Where did you grow up?
Chris: I grew up in Cherry Hill but I moved to Garrison Blvd when I was 13.
695: What AAU teams have you played for?
Chris: I have only played for the Starz.
695: What made you go from an established program like Western to a charter school in its first year with a team.
Chris: What made me leave was that Western knew what they wanted and only played who they wanted. Everyone else was a back up just in case their plan was not going well. But at MATHS they're open to new things and give opportunities to anyone who puts the work in.
695: I heard you tell someone you can get a scholarship off your grades alone. How is it going at the new school so far?
Chris: It's going well at the new school but a charter school can't compare to academically to a school like Western.
695: What is your favorite subject in school?
Chris: My favorite subject is math.
695: What do you need to add to your game?
Chris: I need to work on my mid range game and some post moves.
695: Tell me about a funny AAU road trip story...
Chris: When we went to Ocean City for a tournament the birds had a couple of teammates running around on the boardwalk because they were pooping everywhere.
695: What type of music do you have on you Ipod?
Chris: I have rap, r&b and anything with a nice beat.
695: What other hobbies do you have?
Chris: I play volleyball and softball and I like to read.
695: Good luck this season and thanks.
Chris: Thanks.
