The Battle in Baltimore- Standout Performers

The annual Battle in Baltimore at St. Frances Academy with 695Hoops took place over the weekend with 6 games on this year’s schedule. There were some interesting matchups which led to some solid performances. Here is the first recap of notable performers.

Adey Alexander, Oakland Mills, 2026, Point Guard

Adey played a crucial role in Oakland Mill’s win over Riverdale Baptist Regional. She scored 10 points, including two three-pointers, but it was her playmaking that was most important. She showed complete control of the offense and kept her team organized when Riverdale went on runs. She played solid defense as well. Great showing for the senior point guard.

Jeriah Shipp, Oakland Mills, 2026, Wing

Jeriah scored a game high 22 points and made some big shots down the stretch to help her team pull off the win. She showed her range from deep and scored in the paint as well. In addition to her scoring she provided some secondary ball handling and crashed the boards.

Naiy’lah Crutchfield, Riverdale Baptist, 2028, Power Forward

This was a pretty solid outing for Naiy’lah. She provided a physical presence on both ends of the court, pulled down a bunch of rebounds and showed off her range out to the 3 point line. She finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the game and provided some versatility.

Malia Curtis, Leonardtown, 2027, Point Guard

Malia had a strong game with 9 points and 6 assists and helped her team hold off a scrappy Edmondson-Westside team. She was steady and took care of the ball while keeping her team organized.

Vanesa Brooks, Leonardtown, 2026, Guard

Vanessa dropped a game high 21 points and Edmondson really had no answer for her. She made shots from all over the court, showing off a nice finishing touch and some good ball handling to create space. She also helped out on defense, pressuring the ball and creating chaos in the passing lanes.
